January Dinner: Yangming

What better place to shake off winter’s chill than in a restaurant named “Yangming,” which means sunny, bright and happy in Chinese. The celebrated mainline restaurant has once again been chosen to create a special banquet for the James Beard Foundation in New York, America’s leading culinary organization, but we were more than satisfied with its everyday fare, especially “Golden Crabmeat Purse,” a version of Crab Rangoon that had more crabmeat than cream cheese, and the showstopping jumbo shrimp in a pasta “nest.”
